The giving heart of a volunteer

Meet Scott.  Scot has been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches since 2015.  Since then, he has been running the same route, STA 10.  When Scott is not delivering meals every Thursday to STA 10, he is helping people to find their dream home as a Realtor.

Meet Maryanne.  Maryanne has been a client with meals on Wheels since 2016.  As a young woman, she worked in a hospital, but she also loved fashion, make up and perfume, so she found a job working part time at Macy's.  When you talk to Maryanne, she loves to recant her stories of when she was younger, as well as talk about her mother and father working hard to make a good living.  Maryanne moved to West Palm Beach over 20 years ago.

I was fortunate to meet Maryanne when I first started in August of 2017.  It was in the heart of the summer heat and Maryanne was telling me about her AC that just blew and she was spending a lot of money to fix.  She also told me about the refrigerator that keeps breaking and isn't keeping her food cold enough, and is getting costly to repair as it is very old.  At the same time, she mentioned this to Scott.  This is when Scott took on the challenge of finding Maryanne a new refrigerator.  In early December, Scott was able to locate a refrigerator for Maryanne, and on December 18, we were able to deliver the new-to-her beautiful side by side.  Maryanne mentioned to me that the broken refrigerator had been in the home since she bought it over 20 years ago.

Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches would like to thank Scott so very much for making Maryanne's dreams of a new refrigerator come true before the holidays!  It is because of all of you, our volunteers, that we are able to do the important work that we do everyday!  Thank you!
