Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Paella Party Hosted by Phillis and Casey Jones Helped Bring Attention to Senior Hunger in Palm Beach County

Close to 100 supporters of Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches gathered recently at the Palm Beach Gardens home of board member Phillis Jones and her husband Casey, for a paella party celebrating the fifth anniversary of the non-profit organization’s incorporation.

“It’s been an exciting ride,” Meals on Wheels’ Executive Director Charlie Ring said of the five years since the birth of Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches. “Thanks to the support of our community, we’re now able to make 500 home visits each week and provide homebound seniors with nutritious, freshly prepared meals five days a week.”

Financial support for the paella party, which featured dinner prepared by Chef Luis of the Paella Grill, was provided by board of directors Vice Chair Susan Kirkpatrick and her husband Mike.

“This was a friend-building event in a beautiful setting,” said Board Chair Alyson Davidson. “We’re grateful for the support from Phillis and Casey and from Susan and Mike and for the generosity of all those who have supported us over the years.

Because it does not receive government funding, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches relies on community contributions as well as on the more than 100 volunteers who help prepare meals and make home visits.
