Meal delivery drivers deliver meals to our homebound seniors’ home, and provide social interaction and a friendly face. A typical route consists of 10-12 stops. Drivers are vital to helping homebound seniors maintain their independence and health. Due to the sheer number of participants, there is always a need for more delivery drivers.

Volunteers usually volunteer one time per week on the same day. Most routes take approximately 60-75 minutes. We ask that our drivers arrive between 9:45 and 10:30 AM at the various pick up locations. Delivery volunteers use their personal vehicles and need a dependable means of transportation, a current valid driver’s license, and current proof of auto insurance.

Volunteers will work as a team and follow an organized meal packaging procedure to get freshly cooked meals ready for delivery. Volunteers work in the kitchen located in West Palm Beach. Special dress requirements include long pants, tops which cover shoulders, and closed toed shoes. Hairnet and gloves are provided, and must be worn. Hours for this position are from 8:30 to 11:00 am.

Volunteers will assist in the office on an as-needed basis with customer support, special projects, mailings, and other tasks that may arise. In addition, volunteers may be fully trained to meet with new clients (at the client’s home) to sign them up for the program. (Clients are qualified over the phone first by staff). Intake volunteers will work in teams of two.

Volunteers will assist with events that may occur during the year such as the annual Fundraising Event and other outreach-recruitment/special events that are scheduled. Assistance with preparing invitations, event set-up/break-down, registration, publicity, and other miscellaneous tasks are options to consider.

Corporate Volunteers provide effective hands on opportunities for companies, organizations and religious groups to make an impact on the community together as a cohesive group.

Allow groups to sponsor and conduct their own activities such as holiday treat bags and/or supply drives to be delivered to Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches clients.

Internships are available on a case-by-case basis and can be customized to fit your individual situation and course objectives.

You must be 18 years or older to volunteer for these positions. All applicants must past a background check.
